Switzerland, a delightfully fascinating country with crisp air and fluffy white snow. A skiers paradise, but also a travelers paradise. A small country that has been given some of the best mountain views in all of Europe. It’s not surprising that so many people visit each year to discover the many different places and activities that Switzerland has to offer. Among the clink of church and cow bells lies a picturesque scene from a story book just waiting for you to see with your own eyes.

A ski holiday in Switzerland can be as relaxing or as exciting as you make it. With a multitude of resorts and slopes offering various levels of difficulty and courses to stave off the sameness so you can keep the adrenaline rush going for days. Although not everyone in the family is into falling down, er, uh skiing. So there are, of course, activities for them as well.

Oberalp Pass

One of the best places to visit in winter time, the Oberalp Pass. Ride the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz. A direct train with stunning views of the Alps around tight curves and ninety one winding tunnels. Keep your eyes glued to the windows for the two hundred and ninety one bridges that cover the ups and downs of the narrow valley. Some of the most picturesque scenery in Europe especially during the winter when the pass is covered with snow and the train ploughs through. You can get here from Lucerne, just look for the train through the Gemsstock, Gotthard Tunnel.

Private Ski Chalet

One thing that definitely should not be missed are the beautiful ski chalets in Switzerland. Some nearly two hundred years old, with their old world charm and character. Some are much newer with the top of the line kitchens for your private chef and your very own private sauna and hot tub to bring you back to life after a long day out skiing. The luxury here is something not to be missed when visiting Switzerland. Saint Gallen

A true winter wonderland with holiday magic to bring back the most Christmas time nostalgia. Lucerne

Picture this, the beautiful glassy waters of lake Lucerne in the background surrounded by the panoramic views of the Alps covered in a blanket of white floof. Definitely a view not to be missed. This region is a skier and snowboarder’s wonderland. Chapel bridge and Lion Monument are some great attractions to see while in the area.

Zermatt

A special spot for skiers and snowboarders looking for a quiet time. Perfect for a honeymoon or just to be alone. The small town is charming and well equipped but private and out of the way. A great ski destination without the hype and crowd followings. The best way to get into Zermatt is by picturesque train through postcard train routes. At night the town lights up for some holiday magic. This is guaranteed to make your winter holiday special and memorable! The one thing the town is well known for however, is the famous peak, The Matterhorn. But if you’re not adventurous enough for that, there is a highly energetic nightlife scene.
